All eyes are set on Bb Pilipinas Supranational 2014 Yvethe Santiago, successor of Miss Supranational 2013 Johanna Datul for a back-to-back victory. The 21 year old Bicolana Certified Public Accountant is set to compete against 83 of the world’s most beautiful women in the Miss Supranational pageant in Krynica-Zdrój, Poland on December 5, 2014.

With only a few days til the pageant, Yvethe talks about the competition, the European winter and travel in a Philippine Star exclusive interview

  1. How's your experience so far in Poland?
I am definitely having the time of my life! I am loving the place. Everything looks surreal to me. I still can't believe that I have seen snow already! Hahaha! That made me forget about the pressure and stress that comes with the competition. I am really thankful for this wonderful experience and I am very lucky that I am able to share it with wonderful ladies from all over the world.

  2. How's the weather? How's it like doing pageants in the dead of winter?
I am enjoying it! I will never forget my first snow in Zakopane, which was our second stop. A few minutes after our arrival, Trinidad and Tobago (my roommate then) went to our room running and shouting because it was snowing! I was so excited that I went to the balcony, forgetting how cold it was, and just stared at the beautiful scene. It was so magical! From then on I can't get enough of snow. I am also having fun dressing up for winter. BPCI provided me everything I need. Despite my lack of winter experience, I try to look my best all the time. I hope I'm doing a nice job

  3. How are the other girls treating you, as a contender from Philippines ?
Everyone is so nice. We try our best to reach out to each other despite our differences. It is so beautiful how we never run out of stories to share and that we learn from each other. We never forget that we are still in a competition but we don't get too personal about it, which is a great thing. We know how to work and have fun at the same time.

  4. What sights have you seen so far?
For me, every corner is a wonderful sight to see! Everything is new to me and I am amazed with how beautiful Poland is.

Just like the Philippines, it is a place with rich and well preserved culture. We have visited Old Town Kraków, a UNESCO world Heritage Site. Kraków Old Town is the historic central district of Kraków, Poland. It is one of the most famous old districts in Poland today. It used to be Poland's capital before it was changed to Warsaw. The architectural design of the Old Town has survived many cataclysms of the past and has retained the original form that was established in medieval times. Today the Old Town attracts visitors from all over the world.

We also visited the Wieliczka Salt Mine. The mine's attractions include dozens ofstatues, three chapels and an entire cathedralthat has been carved out of the rock salt by the miners.

We stayed for a few days in a hotel at Zakopane, the winter capital of Poland. There we got a beautiful surprise because snow came earlier than expected!

  5. What have you been doing?
We've visited beautiful and historical places and spent enough time for shopping as well. Most of the days are spent for rehearsals. We have a big show coming on the 5th of December. Miss Supranational is known for its beautiful production and this year is nothing but better

  6. What will be the pageant format? What’s Unique to Supra this year?
Basically the same. Starts with the National Costume Presentation. There's also the swimsuit and evening gown competitions. But this year they've mentioned that there are 7 production numbers for the whole show so expect more dancing and more fun!

  7. Who would you deem as your closest pageant friend?
Basically the same. Starts with the National Costume Presentation. There's also the swimsuit and evening gown competitions. But this year they've mentioned that there are 7 production numbers for the whole show so expect more dancing and more fun!

  8. Has being around the other contestants made you insecure? Lack confidence?
I was very mesmerized with everyone. I believe everyone is beautiful in their own way and I am so lucky to see all of these ladies from all over the world. Yvethe Santiago sizzles in -3 degree Poland

  9. Seeing the competition and being in it, what have you done so far that gives you confidence that you will win the crown?
I have prepared myself for months and I believe I am applying everything that I've learned from my mentors. They are experts in this field that is why I have trusted them. I am thankful that they believe in me too. I promise to give my best everyday and show the world what a Filipino is made of. What's left to do is to trust God and his plans. Whatever happens, it will always be an honor for me that I had an opporrunity to represent my country and its beautiful people.

  10. Message to your fans?
You are my source of strength and confidence in this journey. Every comment and every like are very much appreciated. l may not be able to reply to each and everyone of you but I want all of you to know how thankful I am for all the support. Sobrang sarap maging Pinoy! Pakiramdam ko panalo na ako. Wag po kayo magalala, hindi po ako susuko sa laban. I will do my best. l promise. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat! Mahal ko kayo! Dios Mabalos!
