Fellow Binibinis congratulate Mutya Johanna Datul on her Miss Supranational Victory
The reigning queens vow to win in their respective pageants to make it a grand slam
Victory was sweet for 21-year-old Isabela native Mutya Johanna Datul, who won the Miss Supranational 2013 title last September 6 in Minsk, Belarus. Celebrating victory with her are her Binibining Pilipinas Gold sisters, who supported her wholeheartedly in her journey to the Miss Supranational crown.
Mutya Johanna’s Binibini Gold sisters stayed up late to watch the Miss Supranational 2013 pageant on live streaming, and were ecstatic over her win. Mutya’s win marks the first international crown for this year’s Binibining Pilipinas Golden Batch. “Sobrang saya ko, sobrang proud ko sa narating niya ngayon. We talked on the phone after her win, and she’s excited for her win, but at the same time, she’s also excited to come home. We can’t wait for her to arrive. Super inspiration siya para sa aming lahat, na masundan yung nasimulan niya,” says Miss Universe 2013 Ariella Arida.
All the queens never doubted that she will make Binibining Pilipinas proud and bring honor to the country. “Mutya, ever since naman alam naming mananalo ka. Coming from the province, and in two years, naging international beauty queen ka na. The four of us are looking up to you. Salamat at binuksan mo ang door for us sa international pageants. Of course all of us want to do well in our pageants like you. We’re so happy for you! This is just the beginning for you. Bigay ito sa iyo ni Lord kasi sobrang mabait ka, magalang ka, ma-respeto ka. Sana hindi ka magbago. We love you!” says Binibining Pilipinas-International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago.
Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism 2013 Cindy Miranda, who is already set to compete abroad very soon, is very proud of Mutya Johanna’s achievement. “Hello Mutya! I’m so happy for you. You deserve the crown. Dream come true ito para sa iyo, so alagaan mo yung korona mo. Ang laki ng naging improvement mo, from the time na nagsimula tayo sa Binibini until now. I wish you all the best, and I’m proud of you,” she says.
Binibining Pilipinas 2013 1st runner up Pia Wurtzbach is equally excited for Mutya Johanna’s arrival, and is looking forward to give her a big hug. “Umpisa pa lang, malakas na talaga yung feeling ko na mananalo ka, Mutya, lalo na nung nakita kita with the other candidates. Iba talaga eh, stand out ka talaga. Yung personality mo lutang na lutang, and kahit sa pictures, iba ang presence mo. We’re very proud of you, and we miss you! Magandang umpisa ito para sa four queens, and sana magtuloy-tuloy ito,” she says.
Mutya Johanna is the first Filipina and first Asian Miss Supranational winner. Mutya Johanna’s Binibini mentors are also very happy with her triumph.
Janine Tugonon, Miss Universe 2012 1st runner up, who is now in the United States pursuing further studies, says, “Congratulations! You don’t know how happy and proud I am of you, Mutya! I feel bad that I’m not there to celebrate with you. Enjoy your reign! Make the most out of it, and don’t forget that it’s all because of Jesus so don’t forget to thank Him. I love you dear! Sobrang saya ko talaga! This is just the beginning for you. Marami pang plans sa’yo si Lord.”
Mutya Johanna’s victory is an impressive addition to Binibining Pilipinas’ golden year, which was marked by big events such as the Queens’ Reunion Party last March and the Grand Coronation Night last April. Miss Universe Philippines 2013 Ariella Arida, Binibining Pilipinas-International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago, and Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism 2013 Cindy Miranda will soon leave for their respective international competitions to try to make it a grand slam year for Binibining Pilipinas.
